Words
carry power
bring meaning
bear our history and experiences
Let’s respond with
silence
a kind heart
faith.
Listen to what’s being said
behind the words…
Listen with
compassion
instead of
fear and anger.
Dig beyond the
Words.

It is Saturday
My brain is turned off today
This is my poem.
Today I celebrate…
one month of daily writing practice
hearing students say, “I did it!”
new connections created
old friendships strengthened
the feeling of accomplishment
I celebrate…
starting over again with poetry
the beauty of words
the power of determination
being accompanied by writing friends
chasing my dreams
of calling myself
of being
a writer!

Sharing an original poem everyday in the month of April.
Happy National Poetry Month!
Selah
Every year
I pick a word
A word to guide
A word to steer
A word to live
This year
The word
I picked is
SELAH…
Pause
Reflect
Discover
Praise.
Then what?
What’s next?
I listen
Pay attention
Hear
Change
That’s when
things happen
and
Dreams
come true.
Green Grapes
Oh how I wish I were a
juicy green grape
One of
a bunch
always accompanied
with branch buddies
and companions
along the journey
never alone
Lounging
in the cool,
refreshing spray
surrounded by
love.
No one judges the
juicy green grape
No one teases the
juicy green grape
No one bullies the
juicy green grape
No one yells at the
juicy green grape
No one ignores the
juicy green grape
The juicy green grape
lives in harmony
with the gaggle
until…
it doesn’t
Mmmmm
Original student poetry by Paravi
I asked for posts and here’s the first one I received…
I feel alone
No one knows my secrets
No one bothers to try and listen
As I whisper them in their ears
I am one in a million
But what if they were to care
What if they were to hold my hand and never let go
What if they would catch me when I fall
If they would listen not hear
And be here not there
What if I was not as alone as it seems
What if we were standing hand in hand like we’ve known each other forever
What if NOBODY was alone
This is my original poem. I have felt this way before but not any more, I know that we are never alone.
Poem #12 Friday
Poem #11 The Road Not Taken
The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

What is your “road not taken”?
Poem #10 Nothing
Poem #9 Tag You’re It
On Saturday, MS wrote a poem and it
mentioned peanut butter.
So-tag-I’m it. I’m going to write a
poem about peanut butter…a peanut
butter haiku.
Smooth peanut butter
Sticky, gooey in my mouth
For all morning long
Here’s another one:
Oh peanut butter
Oh why must you glue my lips
I want to eat lunch!
TAG, YOU’RE IT!! It’s your turn to
take a line or an idea from my poem
and write your own.
